Frequently Asked Questions
Will the AI-generated posts sound like me?
Makrly uses your personality quiz and custom instructions to guide tone and style. You can review, edit, or regenerate social drafts before sharing them. Check each draft for accuracy and whether it fits your voice.
What does 'bring your own API key' mean?
Bring your own key means connecting an OpenAI or OpenRouter key in Settings → AI and selecting a model. Provider usage is billed by that provider, separately from your Makrly subscription. OpenRouter provides access to models from providers such as Anthropic, Google, and Meta.
How do I export my data from Makrly?
Open Settings, select Account, and choose Export My Data. Makrly downloads a JSON file directly in your browser. Credential values are excluded; you do not need to wait for an emailed download link.
Can I use Makrly with a team?
Makrly’s current plans organize projects under an individual account. Core includes one private repository and Pro includes three. Shared team workspaces, member invitations, and team roles are not current product features. See the current plan details for project limits.
How do I embed the changelog widget on my website?
Open your project’s changelog settings, select Widget, and copy the code from Embed Code into your website’s HTML. Use the widget settings to configure its appearance and available features.
Does the changelog support RSS feeds?
Yes, Makrly’s changelog includes an RSS feed so users can subscribe and stay updated automatically.
Will changelog updates publish automatically?
Only if you enable auto-publishing for that project. Otherwise, generated updates remain drafts for you to review. Routine maintenance can be skipped by the customer-facing change filter. Help Center generation publishes generated articles; review them before sharing your hub.
How do I get started with Makrly?
Sign in with GitHub, review the requested OAuth permissions, and choose repositories to track. Private repository access uses GitHub’s repo scope, which also permits writes; it is not read-only. Makrly reads metadata, commit messages, diffs, and author information for generation.
Is Makrly free to use?
Makrly offers a 14-day shared trial with no card required, one public or private repository, and 20 AI provider requests. Permanent free product access is not offered. Core costs $29/month or $290/year; Pro costs $79/month or $790/year. The free screenshot tool remains available.
Does Makrly access my source code?
Makrly reads commit diffs as well as repository metadata, commit messages, and author information. Diffs can contain source code. Private repository access uses GitHub’s repo OAuth scope, which also permits writes; Makrly uses the connection for product reads and webhook management.
How often does Makrly sync my commits?
Makrly uses GitHub webhooks for updates. Syncing requires active product access; after a trial expires, syncing and generation pause while saved content and public pages remain available.
What happens after I connect GitHub?
Choose which repositories to track. With automation enabled, Makrly checks commits or merged pull requests for customer-facing changes and generates release notes. You can also create social drafts and help articles from the dashboard.
Can I remove Makrly branding?
Yes, branding removal is included in Core and Pro plans across your changelog, help center, roadmap, widget, and social previews. The trial keeps Makrly branding.
Is my code safe when using Makrly?
Review the GitHub permissions before connecting a repository: private repositories use the repo OAuth scope, which permits writes as well as reads. Makrly uses the connection for product reads and webhook management, and commit diffs may contain code. Newly saved GitHub tokens are encrypted at rest. You can revoke authorization through your GitHub OAuth app settings.
How do I upgrade my Makrly plan?
Open Settings and select Account to review plan and billing options. Choose the appropriate plan and billing period, then review the checkout details before confirming a purchase.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
For an active paid subscription, open Settings → Account and choose Cancel Subscription. The dialog lets you cancel at the end of the billing period or immediately. Immediate cancellation ends access right away. Review the displayed billing and access terms before confirming.
Can I edit posts before sharing them?
Yes, all generated posts appear in your dashboard where you can review, edit, or regenerate them before posting.
Why are some commits not showing up as posts?
Makrly’s AI filters out trivial commits like typo fixes or formatting changes to focus on meaningful updates worth sharing.
